Heliocentris energy lab systems for education and research now come with integrated OPC UA connectivity — enabling direct communication between the lab system and industrial automation platforms.
Every measurement channel — voltage, current, temperature, gas flow — is available as a structured OPC UA node, accessible from any compliant client. This turns each system into a fully networked data source that connects seamlessly to existing infrastructure.
What This Enables
With the built-in OPC UA interface, Heliocentris systems integrate directly into professional workflows: SCADA platforms such as WinCC, Ignition or zenon can monitor and control the full energy system in an industrial HMI. MATLAB and Simulink users can stream live process data for analysis, control design and hardware-in-the-loop testing. PLCs connect via standard OPC UA for larger automation lab setups. Node-RED and IoT platforms allow users to build dashboards, log data to databases and create smart grid simulations. Custom applications can access all data points programmatically using Python, C#, Java or any OPC UA SDK.
Available Systems
OPC UA connectivity is included in the following Heliocentris systems: Hybrid Energy Lab, New Energy Lab, Solar Hydrogen Trainer and Fuel Cell Trainer.
What's Included
The OPC UA server is integrated into each system controller and provides a standard information model with a clearly structured node hierarchy, access to all measurement channels and control parameters, and multi-client support for connecting multiple applications simultaneously. The interface is compatible with UaExpert, Prosys and any OPC UA compliant client.
